As an introvert by nature, I have always found food to be my love language. I believe there is no greater connection we share as people more than food. I believe the one unwavering aspect of human nature tends to be that. No matter where you are in this world, there is a culture that is deeply proud of their food and there are people who are more than willing to offer a seat at their table to happily share it with you. Often when you look a little deeper into the food we are eating, whether home or abroad, you will be opened up to more than the flavours, you’ll experience a history lesson and learn about ones heritage and traditions. That more than anything, I believe is what makes food so beautiful. 

In 2023 my wife, Sara and I traveled to Vietnam for a month. We travelled north to south and fell in love with the country, its culture, people and of course, the food. Vietnam inspired me. It motivated me to think more about our life, particularly work and what our passions are; travel and food. During a week in Hoi An, I spent every morning watching over the South China Sea and daydreaming up a plan for when we returned to Canada. 

Fun fact, after a quick google translate of the name of the guest house we stayed at in Hoi An, it came back as, New City. This was a very loose translation, more than likely inaccurate, but the name was fitting and New City Food Co. was born. 

New City Food Co. is our passion project. It combines our love for food, travel and experiencing different cultures. Our products are intended to tell a story of the places and people that have left a lasting impression on our lives and our hearts and of course the amazing food we’ve had along the way. Our products are created using our love language of food, which is conveyed in the thoughtfulness behind each ingredient chosen.
